People’s Republic of China approves
eight (8) RP heat treatment facilities for
fresh mango exports

The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) of the People’s Republic of China (PROC) approved eight (8) heat treatment facilities for fresh mango exports from the Philippines to the PROC.

Mr. Simeon L. Hernandez, Jr. Commercial Counsellor of the Philippine Embassy in Beijing forwarded details of this report dated 29 April 2008 to the Philippine Department of Trade and Industry officials.

The report enumerated the heat treatment facilities for Philippine mango exports that were approved by AQSIQ of PROC, as follows:

       I.  The four (4) companies providing hot water treatment facilities:

    1. Phil. Harvest Agro Mktg. Corp.

    2. Mabuhay 2000 Entrp. Inc.

    3. Fruitful Harvest Corp.

    4. Wenatchee Marketing Corp

      II.  The four (4) companies providing vapor heat treatment facilities:  

  1. Diamond Star Agro Products Corp.

  2. DHM Phil. Produce Inc.

  3. Hi-Las Marketing Corp.

  4. Marsman Drysdale Food Corp.

In May 2007,  the AQSIQ of PROC accepted Eden Commercial Trading’s heat treatment facility used on Philippine mango exports bound for China.

Various heat treatment procedures such as hot water treatment (HWT), vapor heat treatment (VHT), hot water dip (HWD), and hot water brush (HWB) treatments at certain prescribed temperatures have undergone evaluation and experimentation to prove the effectiveness in controlling diseases of mango fruits.
